Teaching the Lahu about the Holy Spirit

Lahu Tracts When Chris went to Thailand in January we wanted to help the church leaders be more effective in telling the members of their churches about how to rely on the Holy Spirit rather than relying on tradition.

We first translated a tract from Thai into Lahu and then made several bi-lingual editions so that people can share this message with ALL the people in their family and with neighbouring families.

  • Lahu - Thai
  • Lahu - Burmese
  • Lahu - Chinese
  • Lahu -English

Since some Lahu families do not read (or prefer not to read), we made a CD that is half Lahu music and half speaking.

These were all given out at the Combined Lahu Convention in January.

We are hoping that our team will be able to go into China next year. We are now in the process of translating this tract into the Chinese version of Lahu.

TECHNICAL NOTE: Lahu is a tonal language. In Thailand the tone is marked with the "^" and "-" and another mark which is not on most computers. In China they use English letters to mark the tone. I think the differnce is because different groups of missionaries put together the writing system.
